Barbour and Hughes Commit to Daytona State

The Lady Falcons bagged two more commitments to their growing 2015 recruiting class over the holiday break.  New Mexico All State Honoree, Erika Barbour will join the Falcons in 2015, along with Seminole High School right side, Ashley Hughes.

Barbour has been fortunate to compete in the state title match the past two seasons with Rio Rancho High School, in New Mexico.  It is here that she has excelled as an outside hitter on her high school team, receiving back-to-back honors on the New Mexico All State Team.  At 6’1”, Barbour provides a commanding presence at the pins both offensively and defensively.  Touching over 10’ on her approach jump and providing a consistent serve receive pass, Barbour demonstrates both agility and athleticism in her position.  The Falcons are eager to get Barbour on campus next fall and look forward to the contributions she will bring to the program.

Ashley Hughes is a 6’3” right side from Seminole High School.  Hughes represented Seminole High School this past fall in the Pinellas County Senior All Star Match where her team, led by Coach Patrick Sneed, defeated Coach Kendrea Penrose’s team in four sets.  Hughes will work to develop offensively with the Falcons, and will provide a large block at 6’3” for her opponents to attack against.  Hughes will compete with St. Pete Volleyball Club this spring to prepare for her upcoming collegiate debut with the Falcons.

Both Barbour and Hughes join five previous signees with the Falcons, Delaney Freeman, Haley Jensen, Megan Miller, Madison Rogers, and Mariah Baker.
