Katora Roberts Rounds Out Falcons 2015 Recruiting Class

With the Falcons graduating 10 in 2015, Coach Stegall and Coach Booker knew they had a lot of work to do regarding the recruitment of their 2015 incoming class.  This meant a busy fall for the coaches, which meant not just a lot of recruiting trips, but a lot of players on campus to see what Falcon Volleyball is all about.

As the Falcons head into the end of February, they have completed their mission of compiling a great group of 2015 recruits.  With 12 new Falcons entering the nest and joining the Daytona State roster next year, many would consider 2015 a rebuilding year, Coach Stegall sees it differently.  “I see it as a growth year.  Now two years in, we have a better understanding of what it takes to compete in this highly competitive region and conference and we have targeted players that can do just that.”

That brings us to the final scholarship commitment for the Falcons, Katora Roberts.  Roberts will join the Falcons as a transfer player.  Roberts started her journey in 2013 playing at Hillsborough Community College.  It is here that she helped her teammates finish third in the nation and receive an NJCAA National Tournament berth.

Coach Stegall is hoping Roberts can bring some of that same success to the Falcon program.  After taking a year off to focus on school and refocus her goals, Roberts is ready to commit in a big way to the game of volleyball and to the Falcon Volleyball program.

Roberts was a graduate of Winter Haven High School in 2013.   As a sophomore and junior at Winter Haven, Roberts was recognized as a member of 2nd Team All County.  An impressive senior season allowed Roberts to receive the distinct honor as Polk Player of the Year.

Roberts played club volleyball for Southern Select during her high school years.  This 6’ middle will be sure to have an impact in the Daytona State College Volleyball Program in 2015.
