Lady Falcons Committed to Moving On

After a successful launch to the volleyball program at Daytona State, several Lady Falcons have made commitments to advance their education and take their volleyball talents to the next level.

These young ladies were instrumental in the early success of Daytona State’s volleyball program, which saw these young ladies combine for an overall 46-30 record in the program’s first two seasons of play.  Additionally, the Falcons received national recognition as they were ranked as high as 6th in the Nation in the NJCAA National Poll.

Jazmin Alexander was the first Falcon to commit.  She committed to Indiana Tech over the summer.  She joins the Warriors this spring after graduating early from Daytona State.  This extraordinary student-athlete landed at the head of the class for the Falcons academically and was a true workhorse in the gym.  Indiana Tech provides Alexander an opportunity to play closer to home and to pursue her academic aspirations in biomedical engineering.

Caitlin Conner made her commitment to NCAA Division I, University of Alabama at Birmingham.  UAB’s coach caught Conner in action at the Regional Tournament in Jacksonville this past fall and knew immediately that Conner could impact their program.  After a great visit in November, Conner committed to becoming a Blazer for 2015.  Conner finished second in the nation in assists per set, dishing out 11.29 assists per set.  Conner will look to pursue business as she commands the offense of the Blazers the next two years.

A pair of Falcons made commitments to advance their play and academics at NCAA Division II,  Lander University in South Carolina.  Halle Dotson and Khiani Kelly both committed with Lander before the holidays.  Dotson, a 6’1” right side, will be a strong impact player for the Bearcats next season as she joins Lander in 2015.  Dotson finished the season 34th in the nation in kills, recording 401 kills on the season.

Kelly will join Dotson as a Bearcat in the fall.  Kelly played the middle hitter position for the Falcons the past two seasons, but has demonstrated versatility in her roles and is capable of playing as both an outside and right side as well.  Kelly finished the season with 203 kills and 94 blocks.

The Lady Falcons are proud of the success of their teammates and wish them all the best as they embark on their new endeavors next fall.
