Falcons Ink Three More to Round Out 2015 Recruiting Class

With the graduation of 10 sophomores, the Falcon coaching staff has had to roll up their sleeves and work hard to fill some big shoes for 2015.  Coach Stegall and Coach Booker feel like they have done just that with their 2015 recruiting class.

After signing their initial class that includes a standout setter, Megan Miller, and an All State outside from New Mexico, Erika Barbour, along with several local standouts, the Falcons have added three more elite players to the lineup;  Tania Kottke, Alexus Sharp, and Marija Janjusevic round out the 2015 Falcon roster.

Kottke is a 5’11” right side attacker.  Kottke visited with the Falcons this fall and had narrowed her search to Daytona State and the University of Evansville.  Lucky for the Falcons she elected to sign with Daytona State.  Kottke has the ability to provide defense and serve receive duties, along with a strong, athletic attack from the right side.  She is a confident player with a strong volleyball IQ that she has attained in her many years of playing experience.

Sharp, is a 6’ middle attacker from Utah.  Sharp is a member of Pleasant Grove High School.  This two sport athlete, volleyball and basketball, exudes athleticism.  Sharp has had the privilege of being a contributing force to Pleasant Grove’s three 5A State titles.  Sharp is extremely athletic, and has a strong desire to grow in the game.  She runs a solid attack both in front and behind the setter.  Sharp is a member of the premier volleyball club in Utah, Aces Athletics.  Sharp is competing on their 18’s Elite team this spring.

Janjusevic, is a 6’1” middle from Serbia.  She will join the Falcons next fall following her commitment over the weekend to Daytona State College.  Janjusevic has over 11 years of experience playing club volleyball in Belgrade.  She is a versatile player that is capable of playing multiple positions on the court, with the middle being her strength.   Janjusevic is familiar with the strength of the Florida Region, as her older sister currently plays in the NJCAA.

The addition of Kottke, Sharp, and Janjusevic helps to finalize the 2015 recruiting class, making it one of the strongest incoming classes for Daytona State Volleyball.

“The future looks bright for the Daytona State volleyball”, says Head Coach, Laura Stegall.  “I am excited about the newest additions to our team and look forward to seeing the impact they have on the Falcon volleyball program in the near future.”
