Falcons Ranked 8th in the Nation

The Daytona State Women’s Volleyball team improved their overall record to 18-3 with two wins this weekend.  The Falcons defeated State College of Florida in four sets and Gulf Coast State College in a dramatic five set match.

The Falcons have also maintained their position in the NJCAA Top 20 poll, moving down to 8th after a loss to Miami-Dade College, September 20th.

Alica Kandler, Daytona State’s freshman outside hitter, continues to lead the Falcons offensively with 3.94 kills per set and 280 kills on the season. This places her 11th in the nation for kills per set and 7th overall in kills.  Halle Dotson, a sophomore right side, is in a close second with 3.27 kills per set and 232 total kills.  Dotson is currently ranked 35th nationally for kills per set and 22nd in total kills.

Daytona State’s defense is led by sophomore, Kiara Colson.  She’s currently accumulated 290 digs on the season, followed by Kandlers with 185.  Colson is currently 41st in season digs in the NJCAA.

The Falcon’s offense is directed by sophomore setter, Caitlin Conner with 808 assists on the season and 11.38 assists per set.  These impressive stats have placed her second in the nation in assists.

The Falcons resume conference play this week as they take on two tough Mid-Florida Conference opponents, Sante Fe College and Florida State College of Jacksonville.
