Falcons Run Bests at Nationals

The women's cross country team finished 16th out of 41 teams Saturday at the NJCAA Division II Cross Country Championships, improving on their #23 ranking. The Falcons finished with 448 points, just 3 points away from breaking the top 15.  They were also the second Florida junior college team to finish, with Tiffany Cox leading the way with a season best of 20:48 and the fifth runner from Region 8 to finish.  "Tiffany has done such a great job all fall for us.  She is a steady and consistent runner and that is really important for our future, " commented Coach Judy Wilson.  The squad went out hard and were in seventh early in the race.  "Its really important in the women's race to get out early, and with everyone running season bests, we were able to improve on our #23 ranking.  But I told the team we either get out fast and see what happens, or we are just going to aimlessly be running along in the sea of runners, and that's not as exciting.  There have not been too many times where I have had a team come to a national meet and have everyone run their best time of the season.  I'm really proud of all of them.  They are a great group of student-athletes," Wilson said.

The Falcon top seven included Cox, followed by Francesca Azzollini who ran a 21 second best from the Region 8 meet, Cheyenne Hulsey running a 9 second personal best, Maya Horel also a nine second best, Kaitlyn Harding a 25 second personal best, Brianna Crawford ran a 44 second personal best, and Sofia Azzollini with a 36 second personal best.
