Women's Cross Country Heads to Huntsville

Women's Cross Country Heads to Huntsville

The women's cross country team will compete in the Southern Showcase Friday, hosted by Jacksonville State University.  This course is the site of the NJCAA National Championships later this fall on November 11th.    Over 40 teams from around the Southeast, including NCAA Division I teams Alabama and Auburn, will toe the line for the 5,000 meter race.  The Falcons are lead by a pair of runners this year in Shannon Jones and Giovana Meade.  Both have been running very well and finished in the top 20 against NCAA Division I runners at the FAU Invitational on September 1st.  They will be joined by three seasoned sophomores in Lauren Schaudel, Alexis Mills, and Jonna-Marie Kirk along with a talented group of freshmen.   "We will get to see a few more Region 8 teams in this race, so it will be good to see where we stand there and also get a great look at this course before the National Championships are held here in November," Coach Judy Wilson commented.  This is our deepest women's team in program history, and we are excited to see what they can do." Wilson said.
