Bio

Mott is no stranger to Wilson’s coaching.  Having run for DeLand High School her freshman and sophomore year, she thrived in her sophomore track season with Wilson providing some help with workouts.  Mott qualified for the Florida State track meet that spring and placed seventh in the 3200 meters with a time of 11:07.  She ran several road races under 20 minutes for 5k during her first two years of high school.

After high school, and a break from running, Mott is in her second academic year at DSC.  She decided during the spring of 2019 to try her hand at cross country for the Falcons.  Wilson could not be happier to be working with Mott again, who as Wilson puts it, “is having fun running again.”

Outlook for 2019: “Sara is in that place where she will just get stronger and more fit with every workout.  We’ve always had to be a little careful to avoid injuries, but I think this will be a fun season for her, and us.  Although her best season was spring of 2016, once you have run that fast, it’s always in there somewhere.” Wilson stated.

2019 in Review:  Mott ran in the top seven for the Falcons all year, and by the end of the season, moved up into the top five.  She finished in the top 20 at the Region 8 meet, and went on to compete for the Falcons in the 2019 NJCAA Cross Country Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and she was one of only three Falcons to compete in the 2019 NJCAA Half Marathon in El Paso, Texas.

Outlook for 2020:  As the lone returner from the 2019 squad, Mott will be looked upon for her experience and leadership.  Wilson is looking forward to coaching Mott one last season.  "We have known each other for about six years now and I have really appreciated her commitment to our program.  It has been fun to watch her get back into running, and also to see her thrive academically in the nursing program here at Daytona State College.
