The Falcon cross country teams will kick off the season tonight with a unique relay race on the beach in an exhibition against Region 8 competition.  Daytona State will host Florida Gateway College, South Florida State, and Lake Sumter in the Run the Beach Relay, now in its fourth year.

Teams pair up their runners and each pair completes four miles for women and six miles for men by alternating running a mile on the beach.  The men's team is lead by a strong returning sophomore class consisting of All American Joel Jean, Region 8 Runner Up Evan Casterline, Zeniel Lizardo, Isaac Morrison, Pedro Zapata, and Josue Brito.  They will each be paired with a freshman runner from a class that seventh year Coach Judy Wilson sees as a strong contingent for the 2024 season.  The women's team will be led by returning runners Alison Boyle, twin sisters Francesca and Sofia Azzollini and Kaitlyn Harding who, combined with a strong incoming freshmen group, are looking to defend their Region 8 title.

The action starts at 6pm with the men's race, followed by the women's race.  The location of the event is Frank Rendon Park, 2705 S Atlantic Ave, Daytona Beach.  Come out for a fun night and enjoy watching your Falcons fly down the beach!
