Men's Cross Country Heads to Region 8 Championships

The Men's Cross Country team heads to Tallahassee for the Region 8 Championships to be held on Tuesday on Florida State University's world renowned cross country course.  The men's 8,000 meter race will start at 8:30am followed by the women's race at 9:30am. The Falcons have been ranked in the top five in the nation all season and are looking to take home their fifth Region 8 title in six years of the program's existence.  Lead by freshman Evan Casterline and sophomore Jared Falchook, the Falcons look to take as many of the top seven slots as possible.  The first seven finishers in the race earn All Region.  Daytona State's top two are followed closely by sophomore Jayven Garcia and rounding out the Falcon top five are two freshmen, Joel Jean and Isaac Morrison.  The Falcons will be looking for solid performances from runners six through eleven as they battle for a spot on the podium for an All Region slot.  "We are looking forward to running in cooler weather as the expected temperature on race morning should be in the mid 50's.  Many of our runners will be trying for a personal best and this will be a nice opportunity.  The individual title has gone to a Falcon the last three years, with Andy Martinez winning in 2020 and 2021, and Sebastian Hernandez in 2022.

Region 8 teams in NJCAA Division 2 include Daytona State, Florida State College - Jacksonville, Lake Sumter State College, Florida Gateway College, and Pasco Hernando State College.  Eastern Florida State College and Seminole State College will also compete, but will be scored seperately in NJCAA Division 1.
