The men's cross country team will take on NCAA Div II teams and a handful of Region 8 teams this Saturday at the Abbey Golf Course.  This will be the second time that the Falcons have made the trip to St Leo to run the Abbey course.  In the 2021 season, top runners Sebastian Hernandez, Christian Ruocco and Mitchell Curtis helped the Falcons finish strong on this course.  With a strong new contingent of freshmen, the Falcons hope to blend that sophomore experience and freshmen talent.  After running a B team at the Embry Riddle Invitational, the men's squad will be at full strength to take on some of the best NCAA Division II teams in the state, as well as some of the Region 8 teams like Pasco Hernando SC and Lake Sumter SC.

The men's 8k race will go off at 7:30am, with the women's 5k race to follow at 8:00am. The course is the Abbey Golf Course with good footing, and one hill that is 100 meters long.  The men conquer the hill three times, once at the start, a second time in the middle of the race at 4k, and then once again at the end of the race, just before the finish.  "For St Leo we will be working on each runner's own race plan and what they need to do to help the team place as high as possible."  Coach Judy Wilson commented.  Wilson is in her fifth season as the Falcon's Head Coach and sees this 2022 squad as potentially a top five team in November.
