Falcons in Familiar Flight Pattern

In the third and final meeting of the year between two conference rivals, the Daytona State Falcons made yet another statement with a decisive victory over the Florida State College at Jacksonville Blue Wave 96-73. Wednesday night's victory was the 15th in a row at home victory at the Lemerand Center, and the 22nd overall for the Falcons. The Falcons are now 22-4 and 5-1 in Mid-Florida Conference play, which is good enough for first in the conference and a second place ranking in the FCSAA.

The first half went back and forth much like many of the games this year.  The Falcons took a 40-35 halftime lead. The Falcons once again went into the phone booth at halftime and came out in the second half and took charge of the game. The Falcons held the Blue Wave to 38.5% from the field and 4-15 from 3-point range in the second half.

The Falcons were once again paced by a balanced scoring attack, seeing six players score in double figures, and seemingly on any given night will have a different player lead the way. On this night it was Ayinde Sprewell (25 points and 12 rebounds) leading the way for the Falcons. The other five Falcons in double figures included Dylan Poston (16 points), Tanksley Efianayi (14 points), Rashaun Stimage (13 points and 11 rebounds), Paris Clayton (12 points and 8 assists), and Will Ransom (10 points and 7 rebounds).

Coach Ridder is watching his team come together and do something special. However, he knows the road is only going to get tougher, "we control our own destiny right now in the conference but we know in the next couple of weeks we are only going to have to work harder to reach our goals."

The Falcons next play on the road in Gainesville this Saturday, February 15th at the home of the ninth ranked, Santa Fe Saints. They then turn around and play at home against the Saints again next Wednesday, the 19th. In the first meeting of the season between the two teams the Falcons won at the Lemerand Center 71-62.
