Tanksley Efianayi Earns Coveted FCSAA All-Tournament Honors

For the second straight year, Daytona State College has suffered a loss in the opening round of the FCSAA Regional Tournament, eliminating them from tournament play and ceasing the Falcon’s season.

Going into Thursday night’s match up with the Sharks of Miami-Dade College, the Falcons had recorded a 21-7 season record, and had captured the Mid-Florida Conference Championship title.  The Sharks who were 21-10 on the season provided a tough match up for Daytona State in the opening round of the FCSAA Tournament. 

The Falcons played the Sharks tight, but were never able to capture the lead in the second half.  Every time Daytona State would close in on the Sharks, Miami-Dade would drain a big shot.  The Falcons had several missed opportunities at the free throw line, and just fell short, losing 77-88.

Despite the Falcon’s loss, sophomore guard, Tansksley Efianayi manufactured an impressive performance for the Falcons, leading Daytona State’s scoring with 25 points and adding 6 rebounds.

Efianayi’s strong play was enough to catch the attention of the FCSAA coaches and earn him a coveted spot on the FCSAA All-Tournament Team.  Efianayi who had previously been named Mid-Florida Conference Player of the Year and had been a designated member of the FCSAA All Region Team, was now a member of an elite group on the FCSAA All-Tournament Team.

Other members of the all-tournament team included: CF's Terrell Rogers; Pensacola's Shamar Johnson; Hillsborough's Daniel Harris; Miami Dade's Shane Rector and Marvin Jean-Pierre; St. Petersburg's Justin Satchell.

Sadly, Efianayi’s career with the Falcons came to a close with their loss to the Sharks.  However, Efianayi will be continuing his collegiate playing career in Central Florida.  Next year he will compete as a Knight at the University of Central Florida.
