Last April, Coach Manhart had the opportunity to sit alongside two of her program’s top players as they signed their letter of intents with NCAA Division I universities.

Shortstop, Frankie Martinez, and pitcher, Tanna Seuferer, realized the impact that NJCAA softball had on opening doors for them to the next level.  Martinez signed with the University of Florida and Seuferer signed to play with Morehead State.

Martinez has the opportunity to play with one of the top teams in the nation.  As a Florida Gator, she will be joining a team that was ranked third in the nation by USA Today in 2013. 

Seuferer was selected as the Mid-Florida Conference Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2012, as well as, the Daytona State Student-Athlete of the Year.  Her impressive stats which included a 1.65 ERA in 2012, and a 3.36 ERA in 2013 with a .312 batting average caught the eye of many colleges, specifically Morehead State.

Both young ladies exemplify Daytona State College’s student-athlete, and the mission that the college has to develop the game of young players and place them in high caliber programs upon graduation.
