Clayton and Efianayi Receive Player of the Week Honors

Paris Clayton and Tanksley Efianayi both received the NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors in the month of December.

Clayton, a freshman from New Orleans, La., averaged 15.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.0 steal in two games during the voting period. Clayton's efforts led Daytona State to a pair of wins at the Florida College's Men's Basketball Shootout beginning with a 66-63 triumph over No. 5 Pensacola State on December 14. In the win, Clayton scored all 15 of his points in the second half, culminating with his go-ahead three-pointer with three seconds left. The next day, he added 16 points and five assists in the Falcons' 78-65 win over No. 9 Miami Dade. For the week, Clayton shot 43.8 percent (7-of-16) from the field, 45.5 percent (5-of-11) from three-point range and 66.7 percent (12-of-18) from the free throw line.

Efianayi, a freshman from Orlando, Fla., averaged 22.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 1.0 block in three games during the voting period. In wins against Onondaga (January 1, 113-61), Wake Tech (January 2, 81-58) and St. Petersburg (January 4, 82-77), he shot 66.7 percent (24-of-36) from the floor, 50.0 percent on three-pointers (4-of-8) and 80.0 percent (12-of-15) from the free throw line. Against Onondaga he scored 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting. The next day he had a double-double – 25 points on 9-of-11 shooting and 10 rebounds. And against St. Petersburg he scored 23 points on 7-of-14 from the field.

The Falcons will take on the Daytona Red Devils at home on Saturday (4pm) before heading to Ocala on Wednesday, January 22nd, for their conference opener against College of Central Florida.
