Daytona Softball is already 15 games deep in their season, but despite their busy play schedule they have carved out time to give back to the local community.  The past two weeks the Lady Falcons have directed camps for the Ormond Beach recreational softball teams.

This has been a great opportunity for the Lady Falcons to instruct on introductory softball skills for these young up and coming players.  A focus has been placed on improving basic defensive skills, as well as, hitting proficiencies.  Pitchers also have an opportunity to learn basic and new skills on the mound.

The young ladies of the softball program at Daytona State embody the principles of servant leadership and have embraced many opportunities to volunteer their time and talents.  This recent endeavor is just one of the many ways the Lady Falcons proactively embrace philanthropic ventures.

In the fall, Daytona State Softball participated in a walk for the TEARS Foundation.  This purpose of the walk was to raise funds to support bereaved parents who have had experienced the unfortunate passing of their baby.

Additionally, the Lady Falcons have given time to the Taste of 24 and The American Heart Walk.  These ladies recognize that they have responsibilities that exceed their player and student duties and extend into personal development.  These opportunities have enhanced not just the team’s attitude of gratitude, but have fostered the team chemistry in the Lady Falcon dugout.

Daytona State’s next match up is tonight against Eastern Florida State College at the Melbourne campus.  The last match up of these two teams was cancelled due to weather.
