Daytona State College, led by Head Coach, Ryan Ridder, claimed their second win of the season (2-0) last night defeating Eastern Florida State College 65-57, further exhibiting the Falcons ability to be extremely competitive this season in the NJCAA.

Daytona State was ranked 6th in the FCSAA Preseason Coaches' Poll. This victory over 5th ranked Eastern Florida State College demonstrated the Falcons ability to compete and defeat highly competitive programs in the tough Florida Region.

Strong performances by Rashaun Stimage and Tanksley Efianayi helped lead Daytona State in their victory over the Titans of Eastern Florida State College Wednesday night at the Lemerand Center. Stimage had 19 points and 13 rebounds leading the Falcons in scoring. Efianayi came off the bench to score 17 additional points for Daytona State.

"I've got to give credit to Eastern Florida,'' Ridder said. "They're a very talented, well-coached team. We worked on defense and rebounding in practice, and our defense was outstanding tonight. And we outrebounded them by 11 (41-30) and grabbed 15 offensive rebounds."

The Falcons aggressive defense and commitment to the boards resulted in the Titans shooting just 28.3 percent from the field. EFSC managed to score on just 6 of their 23 three point attempts.

A late run by the Titans, that included key misses by the Falcons at the free throw line, allowed the Titans to come within 7 points of the Falcons in the final minute of play, however two free throws by Stimage with 21 seconds left put the game out of reach for the Titans. EFSC was led by Jermohn Queen with 13 points and teammate Jure Gunjina with 12 points.
