Daytona State Sweeps Double Header

The Lady Falcons defeated Eastern Florida 4-1 in game one of their doubleheader, Wednesday, behind both the bat and the arm of Paige Curtis. After the Falcons scored two in the first compliments of Curtis's homerun, Daytona State never looked back.

In addition to Curtis's offensive contributions, she provided the Falcons a strong arm on the rubber. She bagged the win for Daytona State. Curtis pitched seven innings, allowing just one earned run, while striking out four.

In game two, Daytona State and Eastern Florida traded runs for most of the contest, producing five lead changes. Eastern Florida jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first, piloted by a single from Manya Lopez, plating Brooke Formby. Eastern Florida added more runs when Lopez scored on an RBI single by Shelby Nazworth.

After a quick strike from Eastern Florida, the Falcons responded with two runs in the first scoring on a two-run double by Curtis. The Falcons scored five runs in the fourth on an RBI single by Mackie Chandler, a two-run single by Autumn Vick, and a two-run single by Curtis. Amanda Hensler racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Falcons with a double in the fifth inning and a single in the sixth. The final lead change saw the Falcons taking a commanding lead that guided them to their eventual 11-3 victory in a six inning decision.

Sydney Elkin recorded the win for Daytona State. She struck out six, walked none, and surrendered three hits. Michelle Guzinski closed the game putting away the final six outs to record the save.
Tonight's double header puts the Falcons at 15-4.
