Efianayi and Kennedy Sign National Letters of Intent

Daytona State College sophomores, Tanksley Efianayi and Christian Kennedy, signed basketball letters of intent on the first day of the early signing period Wednesday, November 12th. The Falcon’s 6’6” Efianayi, honored his verbal commitment to University of Central Florida, while his 6’11” teammate, Kennedy signed with Lamar University,

Efianayi is currently averaging 25.0 points and 7.8 rebounds through the first five games this season. Efianayi ultimately felt UCF was the right fit, having had many choices which included prestigious programs like Arizona State and St. John’s. Efianayi joined the Falcons in 2013 after graduating from Orlando’s University High School.

Kennedy, who is currently averaging 2.6 rebounds and 3.0 blocked shots, chose Lamar over proposed offers from Morehead State, Coastal Carolina, and Norfolk State. With the addition of these two signees, Daytona State has signed 7 men’s basketball players to four-year schools in the short time that Coach Ryan Ridder has directed the Falcon basketball program.

UCF Head Coach, Donnie Jones said in a press release regarding Efianayi, “He will bring experience. He’ll bring toughness. He will be a guy who can come in and compete at a high level physically. He can score, he can defend and he can rebound the basketball. He was really highly recruited, and I know he’ll bring a lot to our program.”

Lamar Head Coach, Tic Price said in his press release referring to Kennedy, "Another pressing need was finding a presence in the post," said Price. "We wanted someone who could protect the rim. We found that with the addition of Kennedy."

Both will provide major contributions for the Falcons in minutes, points, and rebounds over the course of the season.
