Falcon Basketball Claims Top Honors


Men's Basketball team claimed first place in the Mid-Florida Conference today with a win over the College of Central Florida at the Lemerand Center in Daytona Beach, FL. In addition to being declared Mid-Florida Conference champs, the Falcons collected many individual conference player honors.
Four Falcon basketball players retrieved top honors as members of the Mid-Florida Conference First Team. Ayinde Sprewell, Tanksley Efianayi, Rashaun Stimage, and Dylan Poston were identified as top players in the conference.


Sprewell lead the Falcons offensively averaging 19.4 points per game and adding 9.9 rebounds each contest. Teammate Efianayi added 16.1 points per game and 7.1 rebounds. While Stimage's 13.9 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game and Poston's 11.4 points per game and 2.5 rebounds per game, demonstrated the relatively uniform offensive contributions of the Falcon players.


In addition to Sprewell and Efianayi being recognized by the Mid-Florida Conference, they received recognition in the region as well. Both were dubbed members of the All-Region Team. This team comprises the top 12 players in Region 8 (Florida) NJCAA Division I basketball.


Two Falcon players were also identified on the Mid-Florida Conference Second Team. Will Ransom and Paris Clayton both were recognized for their contributions to the Falcons program and impact on conference basketball action. Ransom averaged 6.7 points per game and 7.7 rebounds per game in the paint for the Falcons, while Clayton contributed an additional 11.6 points per game and 5.1 assists per game from the point.


The Falcons will begin Region Tournament play next week in Ocala, Fl.
