Women's Cross Country Heads to Huntsvllle

The Daytona State men's cross country squad heads to Huntsville, Alabama for the Southern Showcase on Friday, September 13th. The race wll be held at John Hunt Cross Country Park, one of the nations premiere cross country courses. Fifty eight teams from across the southeast will line up for the women's 5000 meter race at 10:00am CST, preceeded by the men's race at 9:00am CST. The fifth ranked Falcons will run their third 5000 meter race of the season and are primed to take on Florida junior college teams Pasco Hernando State College and Eastern Florida State College. The Falcons are coming off a second place showing, first junior college, at the Border Clash last weekend at Valdosta State University. The squad will look to work on bridging the gap among their top five runners. "We have the potential to have a very tight pack this year, something we haven't really had in years past. A one to five spread of less than a minute would be very good for us", commented Coach Judy Wilson, now in her seventh season with the Falcons. The Falcons have been led by Cheyenne Hulsey who has taken strong initiative this year. She is followed closely by Tiffany Cox and Alison Boyle. "We then have a group of about seven to eight runners who could all end up as a fourth or fifth runner for us. Who that might be is still up in the air each week, and it may change from meet to meet." Wilson said.
