The Daytona State women's cross country team will see competition from across the state of Florida Friday at the Florida State Invitational.  The women's race will start at 8:15am, after the men's race.  Thirty four teams will line up at the start and the field includes five teams from Region 8, Daytona State, Pasco Hernando, Florida Gateway, Lake Sumter, and Tallahassee CC.   Other teams in the field include host FSU, Miami, LSU, Embry Riddle, Tampa, and a host of other teams from the state.  "This is a big meet in terms of numbers and importance for our squad", commented Coach Judy Wilson.  The Falcons look to improve their 11th place ranking in the national poll by adding Harleigh Crist to the line up who missed the St Leo Invitational.  The Falcons will be lead by Shannon Jones, who is coming off a solid performance with her 19:17 on a hilly course.  This race will give the Falcons a preview of the Region 8 meet and the NJCAA nationals, which will both be held on the same course Oct 28th and Nov 12th.
