DAYTONA BEACH – Derionah Abner, Sophomore Right Side attacker for the Falcons, received the FCSAA Region 8 DI Player of the Week honors after an impressive last week of play. 

Abner, who is a captain and starter for the Falcons, has been an integral part of the team’s success during the spring 2021 season, particularly in their match ups last week.  Abner hit a remarkable .313 against State College of Florida where she recorded 16 kills.  Additionally, she added to her offensive play 14 digs, 2 blocks, and 1 serving ace.  Abner then went on to hit an even more extraordinary .481 against conference opponent, Pensacola State College, where she recorded 14 kills with only 1 error on 27 attempts.  Once again, her offense wasn’t the only place where she found success as she held one the top dig numbers for the Falcons and recorded 4 blocks and 1 ace.
