Daytona State Records Second Mid-Florida Conference Win, Defeating Sante Fe College

The Lady Falcons earned their second Mid-Florida Conference win against the Saints of Sante Fe as they increased their Mid-Florida Conference record to 2-0.  The Lady Falcons found themselves down early dropping the first set, 17-25.  Sante Fe dominated the first set with solid offense, capitalizing on Daytona State's inability to manage serve receive. The Falcons were unimpressive in all statistical categories, recording a dismal -.037 attack percentage at the conclusion of set 1.

The Falcons found themselves in a back-and-forth battle with the Saints in set 2 as they endured multiple lead changes as the teams battled late into the set.  The Falcons took over in the final points of the set capturing set 2, 25-21.  The Falcons narrowly escaped the Saints in set 2 and fortunately overcame an error ridden set that saw the Falcons hitting at a .091 attack percentage.

The Falcons continued to fight off the Saints in set three and gained control of the match late.  Daytona State controlled set 3, 25-19.  Daytona State's offense drastically increased in set 3, behind the big swings of sophomores, Tania Kottke and Alexus Sharp.  The Falcon's recorded an impressive .483 attack percentage in set 3.

The Falcons found themselves up 2-1 as the fourth set got underway.  Daytona State took charge early in set 4 and never looked back.  Tough serving and an explosive offense in set 4 aided Daytona State's Mid-Florida Conference victory.  The Falcons could not miss in set 4.  They recorded 16 kills on just 1 error in 23 attempts, notching an impressive .652 attack percentage.

The Falcons were led by sophomores, Kottke and Madison Rogers offensively.  Kottke recorded 16 kills on the night, while Rogers added an addition 15.  DeStaffino directed the Falcon's offense recording an impressive 52 assists, while Rogers capped off her impressive performance with 10 digs. 

The 14th ranked Falcons will be back in action next Tuesday, September 27th on the road as they take on St. John's River State College.  They will be back in the Lemerand Center of Daytona State College next Thursday, September 29th, taking on the Lake Hawks of Lake Sumter State College.
