Taylor Garcia is the 1^st Falcon to Commit for 2017

Coach Stegall is excited to announce her first commitment for 2017.  Taylor Garcia will join the Lady Falcons from Boca Raton Community High School. Garcia is a standout middle hitter that has showcased her talents both for her Boca Raton High School program, as well as, her Tribe Club team.

Garcia has a lengthy list of accomplishments both academically and athletically.  On the academic side, Garcia has demonstrated her leadership strengths as a four year member of NJROTC. As a member of the NJROTC, Garcia has earned esteemed honors specifically as the Chief Medical Officer the past two years.  Additionally, Garcia has been a two year member of the National Honor Society.

On the volleyball court, Garcia's athleticism and passion for volleyball has driven her to multiple achievements.  In 2014, Garcia was a member of USAV High Performance team.  She additionally has played club volleyball for the prolific Florida club volleyball program, Tribe the past five years. 

As a member of the Tribe Volleyball Club, Garcia has experienced a tremendous amount of personal and team success.  A specific highlight of her time with the Tribe is marked by a 5^th place national finish on her 14 Open team.  During her five years of training with Tribe, Garcia has excelled and developed her game.

Her growth with Tribe has catapulted her game with Boca Raton Community High School.  She has had the opportunity to be a member of the varsity program for the past three seasons at Boca and looks forward to her upcoming senior season. 

A driving factor in Garcia choosing Daytona State College was their top notch Medical Services degree program.  This program will give Garcia an opportunity to pursue her passion in medical services for her future career.  Garcia looks forward to following the footsteps of her mother, Pam Garcia.  Garcia's mom is retired from fire services in Boca Raton, having served the community multiple decades as a firefighter.  Garcia looks forward to donning her bunker gear with the opportunity to assist and serve her community in the near future.

Garcia is well on her way to fulfilling her health and fire service career aspirations.  She has begun her pursuit of her passion with HOSA (Health Occupations Students of American).  This program has laid a foundation of knowledge and practical experience for Garcia in the medical service field.

Coach Stegall commented on Garcia's recent commitment, "Garcia will play a pivotal role in our program in 2017.  She will have an opportunity to be a part of a big recruiting class.  Her athleticism and volleyball skills will allow her to be a leader in her position and allow the Falcons to continue to develop their program in pursuit of excellence.  Garcia and I connected over a passion for fire and medical services and I am confident that she will flourish in our program and go on to pursue and accomplish things much bigger than one can imagine.  I am excited and thankful to have the opportunity to coach Garcia."

Garcia has had a plethora of life experiences that have impacted her both on a personal and athletic experience level.  In 2014, Garcia played on a youth volleyball tour in Europe.  This tour included London, Paris and Barcelona.  Additionally, Garcia's passion for the beach, scuba diving, water sports, and boating create a well-rounded individual that balances a passion for the game of volleyball, hobbies, and a passion for life and nature.

Daytona State will give Garcia the opportunity to pursue her passion of volleyball while also seeking her future career goals and aspirations of attaining an AS degree in Medical Sciences while also receiving EMT and Paramedic Certifications.  Congrats to Taylor Garcia and the bright future she has in front of her as a Lady Falcon.
