No. 9 Daytona State Rolls Past USC Lancaster 8-0 for Their Fourth Straight Shutout

Daytona Beach, FL- The Daytona State College women's soccer team remained unbeaten in dominating fashion on Sunday afternoon, defeating USC Lancaster 8-0.

 
With the victory the Falcons are unbeaten through four matches for the first time since 2018.
 
Daytona State was in charge of the match from the start, putting pressure on the Lancers' back line early and often. The Falcons broke through in the 16th minute when Madison Gellner (Lake Mary, FL) sent in a cross being put home by Alejandra Espinosa (Boca Raton, FL). The goal was Espinosa's sixth of the season.

Sophomore Akari Kishida (Tokyo, Japan) was next on the leader board for the Falcons, scoring an unassisted goal in just three minutes later, but she was not done yet. Arianna Kinsley (Estero, FL) would score her first of four goals on the evening to put Daytona State up 3-0 in the 27th minute. Kinsley would receive a double assist from sophomores Espinosa and Wakaba Kogure (Tokyo, Japan) on her first goal.
 
The hosts picked up right where they left off in half number one, applying pressure to the Lancers in the early parts of the second half. The Falcons outshot USC Lancaster 40-1 on the night. 
 
Kinsley pushed the Falcons advantage to 5-0 in the 55th and 56th minutes. Her second goal of the evening was from a through ball played by Kogure to break the Lancers defensive line.

 
Elisa Cruz (Oviedo, FL) joined in on the first goal of the season party in the 66th minute. Kishida would score her second goal of the match off a free kick in the 63rd minute. Kinsley would finish the scoring for the Falcons in the 67th minute of play for her fourth goal of the afternoon.

Daytona State had 22 shots on goal for the evening, the fourth time they have placed 10 shots or more on-frame already this season. 
 

The Falcons have not allowed one goal this season.

 
Next up, the Daytona State Falcons will travel to play Spartanburg Methodist on September 7th at 3:00pm and USC Lancaster on September 9th at 12:00pm.
