No. 7 Falcons Fall in Region 8 Final to No. 6 Eastern Florida

Daytona Beach, FL- The No. 7 Daytona State Falcons fell Saturday night to No. 6 Eastern Florida in the Region 8 Finals by a score of 0-3. Daytona State is now 14-2 and 4-2 in Region 8.

The Falcons will await an At-Large bid to the NJCAA National Tournament, results will be announced November 7, 2023, at 1pm on the NJCAA Network.

Daytona State would go down a goal early in the match after goalkeeper, Emma Broch Laursen would make a save deflecting the ball back out into play, the Titans would find the net on the follow up in the 15th minute of play.

Eastern Florida would strike again with just 5 minutes left on the clock in the first half scoring off a corner kick in the 40th minute for their second goal.

Daytona State would hit a new gear in the second half and continued to put the pressure on the Titans the entire half.

"Late in the second half we needed to push to get a goal, after we thought we had one on a set piece where the Titan goalkeeper caught the ball and turned into her goal with the ball, unfortunately the call did not go our way, so we continued to push. I threw a lot of attacking numbers forward in the last 15 minutes and when you do this you run the risk of giving up a goal on the counter, which we did", said Head Coach, Hope Clark. "I am proud of how the ladies finished the match, we strive to always finish strong, and they did that, battling the second half and stepping up their game."

Daytona State has experienced a record breaking and historical season thus far for the Falcons. At 14-2 the Falcons have had ten shutouts, a twelve-game winning streak, scored 59 goals with only 10 against.  Daytona State shared the regular season Region 8 title with Eastern Florida, only the second time in program history the Falcons have won Region 8. Daytona State has been in the NJCAA Top 10 National Rankings all season and stayed at #4 for four straight weeks.
