Kogure and Kishida Earn United Soccer Coaches Academic All-America Honors

Daytona Beach, FL- Daytona State College’s Wakaba Kogure and Akari Kishida were named a United Soccer Coaches Second and Third Team Scholar All-American as recently announced by the organization. This marks Daytona’s first Scholar All-American honor since the 2021 season.

  • Named to the United Soccer Coaches Association Second Team Scholar All-America team.
  • A NJCAA First-Team All-American honoree 2023
  • A United Soccer Coaches All-Region honoree 2022
  • Kogure was named NJCAA Region 8 Player of the Year and First Team Region 8 in 2023
  • She was named NJCAA Region 8 Freshman of the Year and First Team Region 8 in 2022
  • Member of the NJCAA All-Academic team and FCSAA All-Academic award recipient in 2022
  • The sophomore started in all 31 games during her career with the Falcons.
  • In the 2022 season she scored 11 goals and had 5 assists for a total of 27 points
  • During the 2023 season she had 7 goals and 7 assists for 21 points
  • Kogure holds a 4.0 grade point average through Fall 2023

 

 

Akari Kishida

  • Named to the United Soccer Coaches Association Third Team Scholar All-America team.
  • Kishida was named NJCAA Region 8 First Team in both her freshman and sophomore seasons.
  • Member of the NJCAA All-Academic team and FCSAA All-Academic award recipient in 2022
  • The sophomore started in 30 games during her career with the Falcons.
  • In the 2022 season she scored 8 goals and had 11 assists for a total of 27 points
  • During the 2023 season she had 7 goals and 7 assists for 21 points
  • Kishida holds a 3.87 grade point average through Fall 2023

 

 

United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American

 

  • To receive the award, the nominee must be a sophomore in athletic standing at the current institution, have at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA throughout their career, and play a minimum of 75 percent of all team’s games and be an elite player as supported by playing honors.
  • Kogure and Kishida were the only two student-athletes from Region 8 to earn the honor
