#4 Women’s Soccer Moves to 9-0 For the First Time in Program History with Win Over #11 Monroe College

Daytona Beach, FL- The 4th-ranked Daytona State women's soccer improved to 9-0 for the first time in program history on Sunday defeating No. 9 Monroe College 1-0 after Akari Kishida's game-winner in the 38th minute.

Daytona States' defense played outstanding as they limited the amount of shots goalkeeper Emma Broch Laursen faced on Sunday as she continued her dominant 2023 season. They held Monroe College to 11 shots combined, with just four on goal. The defense has been a fortress so far this season as they have only allowed one goal so far in 2023.

The offense for the Falcons was also fantastic in Sunday's match by getting 12 shots against the Mustangs and put pressure on Monroe College's defense throughout the match. At the 37:52 mark, Kishida scored her fifth goal of the season.

"It was a tough and physical battle last night, said Head Coach, Hope Clark, I am proud of the continued focus and discipline that this team puts in daily on the training field. Our vision is clear, and we are working everyday for the family to get 1% better. Most people only see the success come game time, but the coaching staff sees what these young women are doing outside of training time, and it is paying off for this young team."

Nationally ranked for the sixth time this season, the Falcons will take on Pasco-Hernando State College for the 2023 Homecoming game this Friday at 7:00pm. Daytona State will then travel to play first-year program. Southern Union State Community College at Valdosta State University on Monday, October 9th at 6:00pm
