#4 Falcons Keep Win Streak Alive with 9-0 Win Over Pasco-Hernando State College on Homecoming

Daytona Beach, FL – Sophomore Wakaba Kogure and freshmen Jada Clarke and Madison Gellner each scored a pair of goals to lead the Daytona State women's soccer team to 9-0 victory over Pasco-Hernando State College on Friday night during the Homecoming Match.

The Falcons (10-0, 1-0 Region 8) ran their win streak to ten straight matches and for the fourth time this season the program has scored 8 or more goals in a match. It was the ninth shutout for the Falcons this season.

Kogure got the scoring started for the Falcons as she converted her first opportunity at the 18:40 mark.

Dejionee Anderson headed home her second goal of the year as she took a pass from sophomore Akari Kishida 24:15. Arianna Kinsley started the scoring in the second half and pushed the Falcons lead to 3-0 as she scored her tenth of the year off a cut back pass from freshman Valentina Munoz at 55:47.

Brianna Crawford would score her first goal of the season at 62:07 after Kinsley flicked a ball at the near post that ricocheted off the goalkeeper and Crawford was there to seal it.

Freshman Jada Clarke would be the biggest game changer of the night as she would add the next two goals and three assists for Daytona State coming off the bench in the second half.  Her first goal would be scored on a corner off a pass from Kishida, her second of the night.  Clarke would add her second goal less than 10 minutes later off a through ball from sophomore Elisa Cruz.

Clarke said after the match in her interview "tonight I truly felt like a game changer. I'm so proud of my team and everything we've accomplished and I'm beyond excited to see what the future has in store for this amazing group of ladies."

Kogure would enter back late into the game and score her second goal of the evening from an assist by Clarke at 81:30.

Freshman Madison Gellner would close out the scoring for the Falcons scoring her first two goals of her freshman campaign.  Both goals would come from the foot of Clarke.

Gellner said after the match, "since the very beginning of the season Coach Clark has always said that people coming off the bench need to raise the tempo and be game changers.  Coming off the bench tonight scoring 2 goals was a very exciting feeling knowing that I was a game changer."

The Falcons held a 35-2 advantage in shots, 19-1 in shots on goal and took all six of the game's corner kicks scoring on two of them.

Freshman Emma Broch Laursen needed to make just one save to record her ninth shutout of the season. Sophomores Makenzie Morris andIsabella Morey would close out the game in the net for the Falcons each sharing the final 30 minutes.  Both anchored the defensive line and helped build out of the back.

Head Coach, Hope H. Clark, said "in our program we stress that everyone needs to be ready to change the game when they have the opportunity to play. We are going to need everyone down the stretch as we try to make a run for the Region 8 championship and the strength of our team lies in each individual player.  Tonight, I could not be prouder of the impact that our young players made, they were truly game changers."

Daytona State has a quick turnaround time as they travel to play Southern Union State College at a neutral site, Valdosta State University, on Monday, Oct. 9 at 6 pm.   The Falcons will then play their last three regular season matches against Region 8 opponents, Eastern Florida, and Polk State.
