Kogure and Kishida Lead Falcons To 4th Shutout of Season in 8-0 Win over Pasco-Hernando

Daytona Beach, FL- On Saturday, September 10th the Daytona State women's soccer team would host Pasco-Hernando State College at Falcon Field. The Falcons defense would continue to shine as they held the Bobcats to zero shots on goal and recorded their fourth shutout of the season. Head coach Hope Clark's back line is anchored by two veteran players in Caroline Boston(Melbourne, FL) and Lucia Guemes (Ampuero, Spain)as well as two rising stars in Alexandra Draper (Lutz, FL) and Morgan Hosier (Fleming Island, FL) who is new to the defensive line this season

Saturday, freshman Forward Wakaba Kogure (Tokyo, Japan) would make her impact felt on the offensive side of the ball as she netted a hattrick and an assist for now 16 points on the season. Her fellow countrywoman, Akari Kishida (Tokyo, Japan) would follow pursuit adding two goals and two assists on the day for 18 points on the season. 

Freshman Jada Samuels (Tampa, FL) would begin the scoring on Saturday on a breakaway from a beautiful pass by Kishida. Freshman Alexis Harden (Port Orange, FL) would pick up another goal and assist early in her career for the Falcons.  Sophomore Shania Harris (Portmore, Jamaica) coming off the bench in the second half would add a goal and assist to her explosive season giving her a total of 11 points. 

The Falcon defense continues to be anchored by sophomore goalkeeper Guemes who now holds a .46 GAA average.  Freshman Abby Starkey (Reynoldsburg, OH) finished the game in goal for the Falcons.

"It was great to see a number of players on the field Saturday with goals and assists coming from a handful of women.  We have a lot of crafty and dangerous players offensively, but our defense has been solid and were able to record our fourth clean sheet of the season, said Clark"

Daytona State will look to extend their win streak to four games as they head on the road to take on Cape Fear Community College on Thursday at 2:00 PM.
