Falcons hold off #15 LSU Eunice in 2-2 Draw

Daytona Beach, FL- The Daytona State College women's soccer team (1-0-1) ended with a 2-2 tie against the #15 Louisiana State University Eunice (0-1-1) at the Panama City Beach Sports Complex on Thursday.

 

The Falcons started the scoring with an unassisted corner kick from Akari Kishida (Tokyo, Japan) at the 3:30 mark.  LSUE answered back with a through ball, finding the Falcon's goalkeeper Lucia Guemes (Ampuero, Spain) caught high up the field.  The second goal arrived later in the first half from LSUE when the Falcons goalkeeper slipped on the turf leading to an open goal.  The Falcons answered back at the 17th minute mark with another goal by Kishida, assisted by Freshman defender Alexander Draper (Lutz, FL).

 

The high intensity and physical match would move into overtime after regulation and continue to be a back-and-forth game, creating chances for both teams.  Lightning would cause the ultimate decision with 4:32 left in the second overtime period as the Falcons were set to take a their 7th corner kick of the match.

 

Daytona State will travel to play NCAA Division II Opponent, Eckerd College, on Sunday August 28th for their final preseason scrimmage of the year.
