The Falcons traveled to South Carolina to take on USC Lancaster in their first game of the season.  The Falcons emerged from the game victorious starting the season with a shut out and a coveted road victory. 

 

Heather Nulty and Michaella Krebser lead the team in scoring and continued their form from last year.  Michaella opened the scoring  within 3 minutes of the whistle off of a well timed pass from Megan Warner.  Heather capped off the scoring when Naomi Gurrola served a perfectly weighted ball to the back post.  Heather was able to meet the ball at the back post for her third goal on the year.

 

The game saw many standout performers in addition to Heather and Michaella who scored mulitple times.  Alexis Vazquez and Kaila Armstrong were very influential in the game from the midfield position.  Both players were able to create multiple oppportunities for thermselves and their teammantes. 

 

"I am very proud of the group today for the effort and intensity they showed.  Opening the season on the road can be very difficult and it's good to see how much our team has matured over the last year.  We have been focusing on improving our mentality over preseason and the team came together well today," said Head coach Brittany Jones

 

The Falcons will continue their road trip in the southeast as they travel to take on Georgia Military on Sunday.  The game will be played in Milledgeville, GA at 1pm.
