MANON DONCHE-GAY CAPTURES REGION VIII TITLE

April 18, 2021 – Sophomore Manon Donche-Gay played her best golf of the season and in the process won the individual title at the NJCAA Region VIII Championship with scores of 70-69 (139).   Donche-Gay won the title by one stroke over Seminole State College's Minori Nagano, the nation's top ranked player who shot scores of 71-69 (140).   Donche-Gay clinched the victory with a 10 -foot putt on the final hole after scrambling for par.  Down the stretch she made birdies on her 16th and 17th holes to put herself in contention to win.   Other top finishers for the Falcons include Symone Henriques who finished in a tie for 5th with scores of 75-72 (147), Sarah Scott who posted scores of 80-75 (155) and Casey Sommer who shot 79-76 (155), both finishing in a tie for 9th.    

Seminole State won the team competition with scores of 286-288 (574) while the Falcons finished 2nd with scores of 304-292 (596).   Eastern Florida finished 3rd in the event with scores of 313-320 (633).    The top two teams advanced to the NJCAA National Championship which is being hosted by Daytona State College May 10th – 13th at Plantation Bay Golf Club in Ormond Beach, FL.
