Turnovers doom Falcons in loss at FSW

Fort Myers, FL -- Sophomore Shayla Bouie scored a team-high 20 points, as 12th-ranked Florida Southwestern Buccaneers defeated Daytona State 73-45 Friday afternoon.

The Falcons (5-3) cut the Buccaneer led to three points in the second quarter, but hot shooting by FSW and turnovers by the Falcons ballooned the lead in the second half.

"We have to do a better job of valuing possessions, especially versus good teams.", Daytona State head coach Tron Griffin said.  "Way too many live-ball turnovers, and careless mistakes that converted to FSW scoring thirty points off our turnovers, we had some kids step in and give some positive minutes, but we must commit to two things versus good teams by taking care of the basketball and making shots. This time of year, it has to be a next play mentality we have an opportunity tomorrow to get right again."

Sophomore Kimeira Burks added 9 points, while Sophomore D'Asia Small snagged 7 boards.

Daytona State will wrap up their two-game road trip at Miami-Dade College tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
