Saint Petersburg, FL. – Daytona State (1-0) received several clutch performances throughout the lineup, including a game-high 18 points from sophomore Tanyia Gordon in Friday's victory vs. Hillsborough Community College 81-66. The Falcons forward was 9-for-14 from the floor with eight rebounds to lead the Falcons.
Post presence inside led by Freshman Center Kierra Wheeler, and Sophomore Forward Blessing Okok who logged their first double-doubles of the season. Wheeler, 17 points, ten rebounds with three blocks, and Okoh 12 points, twelve rebounds with three assists. Shayla Bouie, and Jaida Young also added double-digit scoring for the Falcons. Shayla Bouie scored 13 points off 5-for-9 shooting from the floor. Jaida Young with 11 points shooting 9-for-9 from the free throw.
