Falcons Fall to Chipola

Daytona Beach, FL -- Sophomore Tanyia Gordon scored a team-high 18 points, but 2nd-ranked Chipola defeated Daytona State 78-51 Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons (3-2) went on a 12-3 run in the second quarter and trailed at the half. Chipola only outrebounding the Falcons by 3 (33-30).

"I thought we played really well in spurts," Daytona State head coach Tron Griffin said.  "I felt like our players did not give up and showed great effort defensively for 40 minutes turning over the number 2 ranked team in the country 20 times, this was a good test for us versus a good team. If we could convert those turnovers to points, we give ourselves a chance to win."

Sophomore Kimeira Burks added 12 points, while Sophomore Shayla Bouie scored 9 points.

Daytona State will return home to host Palm Beach State College on December 10th at 5:00 p.m.  The Falcons will face Albany Technical College at 4 p.m. Friday, and South Georgia Technical College at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday in Americus, GA for the SGTC Thanksgiving Classic.
