Defense lifts Falcons over FSCJ on the road

Jacksonville, FL. – Sophomore Kimeira Burks led the way with 20 points, 7-for-14 from the field, 3-for-3 from the charity stripe as Daytona State takes the 68-45 win over Florida State College at Jacksonville on Wednesday afternoon.


The Falcons (9-4) tested in the first road trip of 2022 after another slow start down 0-8, pressure defense sparked the energy for the Falcons with a 13-point lead into the half. Defensive efforts by the Falcons forced 24 turnovers by the Blue Wave led by Tanyia Gordon and Shayla Bouie both with four steals.

Freshman Kierra Wheeler chipped in 12 points and seven blocks while Sophomore Shayla Bouie finished with 10 points.

The Falcons next two games have been postponed due to health and safety protocols. Daytona State returns home next Wednesday, January 26th to host St. Petersburg College at 5:30 p.m.
