Slow start dooms Falcons in loss at Eastern Florida

Daytona Beach, FL -- Sophomore Shayla Bouie scored a team-high 15 points, as 25th-ranked Eastern Florida State Titans defeated Daytona State 81-62 Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons (8-4) cut the Titans' lead to nine points in the third quarter and outscored the Titans by five points in the second half, after cutting a 20-point lead at the half.

"I like our fight, especially in the second half to come out and adjust. We took longer than I would have liked to see us get back to how we like to play. We can't spot a good team 18 points to start a game, it's conference time quick turnaround, and bounce back.", Daytona State head coach Tron Griffin said.

Sophomore Shayla Bouie 15 points on 50% shooting, two assists, and two steals. Freshman Kiera Wheeler 14 points, six rebounds, three steals, and five blocks. Sophomore Tanyia Gordon 12 points, six rebounds, and five steals. Sophomore Kimeira Burks added 12 points.

Daytona State will play at Florida State College- Jacksonville on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. and return home to "The Nest" on Friday, January 14th vs. Santa Fe College at 5:30 in a rescheduled game.
