Turner goes for 30 in Falcons' win at St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg, FL (November 9, 2019) Freshman combo guard, Janay Turner, continues to score at will, dropping 30 points at St. Petersburg in a win for the Falcons. The previous night's action saw her hit for 21 points. This was the first game in which four Daytona State players hit double figure scoring numbers. Additionally, freshman forward Kianni Westbrook, was able to secure her first collegiate double-double, with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Westbrook also finished the game with 3 blocks. In addition to Westbrook and Turner, Cherelle Washington had her highest output of the season with 18 points. She was joined at the 18 point mark by Paris Williams. Ja'Nia Thompson also had a solid outing, going 4-6 on the day. She finished the game with 8 points and 8 rebounds.

Daytona State shot 49% from the field and 50% from the 3 point line for the game. In a back and forth game from the jump ball, the Falcons ended on top by a score of 87-81 in a game that saw 9 lead changes and 8 ties. 

St. Petersburg was led by Alisha Walker with 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Brittany Wilcox who also finished with 18 points. 

The Falcons open at home on Wednesday, Nov. 13 for the start of a 4 game home stand. They take on #11 Florida Southwestern at 5 p.m.
