Softball Sweeps FSCJ in Season Opener

Daytona Beach, FL  – The Falcons softball program got off to a hot start on Sunday when they opened their season with a sweep over Florida State College – Jacksonville, 11-4 and 5-1. 

Madison Mitzel picked up the win in game one with 3.2 innings of relief work, striking out four and allowing no runs.  Kiera Mainolfi led DSC offensively with a three-run bomb in the first inning to get the Falcons on the board.  Mainolfi had two hits on the game, driving in four runs total.  Brianna Weimer had two hits for Daytona State as well.  Morgan Davis, Gissel Morales, and Kadrianna Grinstead all doubled for the DSC offense. 

Allizaya Talamantes went this distance in the circle in the nightcap to earn her first win of the season.  Kadrianna Grinstead paced the offense with two hits, two stolen bases, and two runs.  Hope Barnett drove in a pair of runs, including an RBI double.  Sky Ramos also hit a solo homerun to finish the scoring for the night.

The Falcons are on the road Tuesday, February 6th at Pasco-Hernando State College at 4&6 p.m.
