Casterline Named FCSAA Scholar Athlete of the Year

Daytona State's Evan Casterline is the 2024-2025 FCSAA Male Scholar Athlete of the Year. Casterline leaves Daytona State College with a 4.0 grade point average.  He was the FCSAA Men's Cross Country Student Athlete of the Year and Daytona State's Men's Cross Country Scholar Athlete of the Year.  With aspirations to study Environmental Engineering, Evan enrolled in DSC Quanta Honors program, graduating a semester early.  He blossomed in the Daytona State cross country program, placing second individually at the 2023 Region 8 championships as a freshman and helping his Falcon teammates set a perfect score and team title.  He followed that up with a 20th place at the NJCAA National Championships, with his team placing third for a podium spot. He improved on those marks during hsi sophomore year by winning the Region 8 individual title, again helping his team take the title.  Then, at the NJCAA National Championship two weeks later, he went on to place third, the highest ever by a Daytona State runner.  "Evan is one of the hardest working student-athletes I've ever coached.  he lifted our program up and set the bar high.  We wish him well as he continues to reach his goals," commented Head Coach Judy Wilson.  Evan is continuing his academic and athletic career at Florida Gulf Coast University.
