Falcons Ranked 4th in Preseason Poll
The USTCCCA preseason poll is out and the Falcons received four first place votes, resulting in a #4 ranking. The Falcons placed third in last year's NJCAA Div II championship after a historic perfect score at the Region 8 Championships. A perfect score in cross country is when a team takes the first five places in a race and scores 15 points. This was the first time that a team has ever perfect scored the Region meet. The Falcons return three runners from their top seven from last years national meet line up, Evan Casterline, this week's Region 8 Runner of the Week, All American Joel Jean, and Isaac Morrison who had a very strong spring and summer of training. The Falcons also added a strong freshmen class, led by freshman Nick Pugh who finished in the #3 spot for the Falcons last week at the UCF Invitational. Mesa (AZ) received the most votes to grab the #1 spot followed by Cowley and Paradise Valley. Defending champ Lansing is ranked fifth behind the Falcons. The Falcons will train through this weekend and prepare for their trip to the Southern Showcase on September 13th in Huntsville, AL.
