Falcons Fair Well at UCF

The Daytona State men's cross country team took first in the UCF Invitational junior college race Friday night.  The Falcons scored 21 points followed by Seminole State with 58, Pasco Hernando with 59 and Lake Sumter with 97.   In the combined scoring with NCAA Division I and junior colleges,  the Falcons were only 22 points out of third, finishing fifth behind Univeristy of Florida, Florida State, University of South Florida and Stetson.  "We were okay through 4 runners, but just did not get a fifth guy up there close enough to catch USF and Stetson." commented Coach Judy Wilson  The Falcons were led by sophomore Evan Casterline who finished in 20th place overall and first junior college runner.  Joel Jean was the second Falcon runner and second in the junior college race.  Freshman Nick Pugh (Steinbrenner HS) ran a strong first collegiate race placing third and Isaac Morrison was the fourth Falcon and fourth in the junior college race.  Daytona State's fifth runner was freshman Nik Boone (Tohopekaliga High School).
