Men's Cross Country on the prowl in Huntsville

The Daytona State men's cross country team heads to Huntsville, Alabama this weekend for the NJCAA Division II National Cross Country Championships.  The Falcons, ranked fourth in the latest USTCCCA national poll and coming off their fifth Region 8 title in six years, look to be in the hunt as they take on the nation's best. The Falcons will put seven runners on the line on Saturday at the John Hunt Cross Country Park for the 8,000 meter race.   Jared Falchook, a sophomore from Celebration, Florida and the 2023 Region 8 champion, led his Falcon squad to a perfect score of 15 points, a first in the history of the region.  Freshman Evan Casterline took runner-up honors at Region 8 and is eyeing a top 15 slot at the national meet, along with Joel Jean who was third at the Region 8 meet.  The Falcons will run Isaac Morrison who sat out of the Region 8 meet, but is primed once again to run with his Falcon pack, along with Jayven Garcia, Ivan Marin-Padilla, and Brenden Hamilton, all who earned Region 8 honors.  "We are focusing on running as strong a race as possible and seeking to place our highest outcome ever as a team." commented Coach Judy Wilson. The Falcons finished a program high of national runner-up in 2021.
