Men's Cross Country Top Junior College Team

The Daytona State men's cross country team proved once again why they are ranked d3rd in the country in NJCAA Div 2.   The squad competed at the Embry Riddle Invitational over the weekend and placed third, behind only meet host Embry Riddle, an NCAA Div 2 team, and Seton Hall, an NCAA Division 1 team.  The Falcons just missed second place, finishing only 5 points behind Seton Hall.  Led by freshman Sebastian Hernandez who finished the 8000 meter course with a time of 27:04 to place 7th overall, and was followed closely behind by sophomore Andy Martinez in 8th place with a time of 27:07.  The Falcons got a top 15 finish from freshman Christian Ruocco who ran 27:52, and then were able to get all of their top five runners in the top 25 of the race, as freshman Mitchell Curtis and sophomore Jerdary Ayala finished 24th and 25th overall.  Others competing for the Falcons were sophomore Jesus Clemente who finished 28th, sophomore Richard Lebron in 35th, freshman Jonathan Reyes in 71st, and freshman Christian Pastrana in 85th.
