Men's Cross Country Ranked #4 in the Country
The Daytona State men's cross country team received a #4 ranking in the latest USTFCCCA coaches poll.  Finishing fourth at the 2020 NJCAA national championships, the Falcons look to improve on that finish.  With their recent performance at the NCAA Div 2 Prenational meet at St Leo University, the Falcon men are beating NCAA Div 1 and 2 teams this fall with a strong core of runners.  Led by returning sophomore Andy Martinez (4th in the 2020 NJCAA national meet), the Falcons have a strong freshmen trio of Sebastian Hernandez, Christian Ruocco, and Mitchell Curtis.   "We are very fortunate that these three chose to come to Daytona State.  They are a talented group, and blend in well with our returning guys." Coach Judy Wilson commented.

The Falcons travel to Florida State University Friday for the NCAA Pre National Invitational.  The goal is to get on the course that they will return to for the Region 8 meet on October 29th.  Returning runners Adolfo Castro, Jerdary Ayala, Richard Lebron, Tyler Baker and Jesus Clemente will be looked upon to fill in the crucial #4 and #5 spots for the Falcons.  "All of these guys have the fitness to go under 27:00 on the FSU course.  The focus is on working as a team and hitting the 5k point in the race in a position to push the last 3000 meters." Coach Judy Wilson said.  The men's race kicks off Friday at 9:10am, followed by the women's race at 9:45am.
