Falcons Hit the Starting Line

Falcons Hit the Starting Line

The Daytona State men's cross country team kicks off their season with a unique event. The Falcons will be competing on the "Worlds Most Famous Beach" in the Run the Beach Relay scheduled to take place at Frank Rendon Park, 2705 South Atlantic Ave, in Daytona Beach.  The men's race kicks off at 6:10pm right after the women's race.  Teams competing are Seminole State College, Lake Sumter, Florida State College at Jacksonville, and Daytona State.  The Falcons are coming off a strong 2020 season where they placed 4th at the NJCAA Div II National Championships, lead by Andy Martinez.  Martinez has returned for one more season with the Falcons, and looks to lead a strong group of returning runners and talented freshmen.  Coach Judy Wilson enters her fourth year as head coach for the Falcons in the fourth year for the program.  "Our beach relay was a great way to start the season in 2019.  We set it up like a workout and the purpose is to do something a little different than the normal 5k or 8k distance."  Action starts at 5:30pm with the women's race.
