Bio
A running teammate to Guillory, Gilbert ran strong for Mainland his junior and senior years. His 16:50 5k personal record came at the 3A Region 2 meet where he placed 14th to earn a spot at the Florida State Cross Country Championships. Wilson watched Gilbert run last year and sees a true long distance runner.
Outlook for 2019 per Wilson: I’m excited to see what Tyler will do with increased mileage and workouts catered to his abilities. I think he is looking forward to the 8k distance and will pull his teammates along with him. He’s run some longer races on the roads and that can develop mental strength that others don’t have.
