Falcons on the Move

The Daytona State Falcon Men's Soccer Team will see three players moving on to continue their academic and athletic careers. With a combine record of 24-6-3 in their two seasons, this class will be moving on having won a Region 8 Championship, Southeast District Championship, and a trip to the 2022 National Tournament.
Yuta Tokuhisa (Kanagawa, Japan) - Oral Roberts University
Yuta Tokuhisa's tenure as a Falcon was marked by consistency, determination, and a commitment to excellence on the soccer field. Over the course of his 28 games as a Falcon, Yuta Tokuhisa's skill and versatility has helped him to earn a spot on the 2023 Region 8 Team of the Year. During his two seasons with the Falcons, Tokuhisa tallied a total of 6 assists, helped clinch a 2022 Region 8 Championship and 2022 Southeast District Championship, and travelled with the team to the 2022 NJCAA National Tournament.
Tokuhisa's commitment to success extended well beyond the field, achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.93 and being named to the 2022 NJCAA All Academic Team. Yuta on his time at Daytona State, "I am happy that I was able to be a part of this team for two years at the beginning of my athletic career in the US. There is competition in every practice, and I was able to play at a high level. Thank you coaches and teammates for the support you provided during my time." Tokuhisa will be joining NCAA Division I Oral Roberts University Golden Eagles in Fall 2024.
Damian Rogers (Jacksonville, Florida) – USC – Aiken
Damian Rogers, a proud native of Jacksonville, FL, brought his talent and passion for soccer to the Falcons when he joined the team in Fall 2022. Throughout his two seasons with the Falcons, Rogers showcased his skills and dedication, tallying a total of 13 points during his two seasons. In the 2023 season alone, Rogers' contributions on the field were evident, collecting 3 goals and providing 6 assists, solidifying his status as an asset to the team. Rogers will be joining NCAA Division II USC-Aiken in Fall 2024.
"To Daytona State College, thank you for everything you’ve given me on and off the pitch. I enjoyed every moment of the day I got and the people that I came across will forever be important to me. I will miss the laughs and the good times I had with my friends, teammates, and coaches. Sol Bercu (Ramat Gan, Israel) – West Texas A&M University
Sol Bercu emerged as a versatile force on the field during his tenure with the Falcons, showcasing his adaptability and skill across multiple positions. With a total of 4 goals and 2 assists, Bercu significantly impacted the team's performance, contributing to their success in various capacities. Bercu's leadership qualities were evident both on and off the field.
His ability to inspire and motivate was instrumental in guiding the team to the 2022 Region 8 Championship, and Southeast District Championship where his contributions helped secure the title. With the help of his dedication and determination, the team earned a spot in the 2022 National Tournament. As Bercu prepares to embark on the next chapter of his academic and athletic journey, he will be taking his talents to NCAA Division II West Texas A&M University in Fall 2024.
This sophomore class' success did not end on the field. In the 2024 spring semester, our outgoing class had an outstanding combined GPA of 3.38GPA and a 3.26 GPA for the 2023-2024 school year. Coach Avallone, "We set goals as a team, and this sophomore class delivered. The success on and off the field is not a coincidence, but a combination of leadership, professionalism and drive to be the best. The future for these young men is bright and I look forward to seeing what they will accomplish next."
